Barcelona have taken another important step toward securing the future of their key players. Brazilian international Raphinha has signed a new contract with the Catalan club, which is set to run until June 30, 2030.
All details between Barcelona, the player, his representatives and legal team have been agreed, with the documents now signed by both parties. An official announcement and contract renewal ceremony are expected later this week, with Friday mentioned as a possible date if the remaining administrative procedures go according to plan.
The extension does not come as a surprise. Back in September, Barcelona sporting director Deco publicly confirmed that talks with Raphinha were at an advanced stage and that the club intended to keep the Brazilian as part of the team for the next four years.
From an uncertain future to one of the world’s best
Raphinha’s journey at Barcelona has not always been straightforward. He joined the club from Leeds United in the summer of 2022, but at one stage his future at the club was surrounded by considerable speculation.
That situation changed significantly following the arrival of Hansi Flick. Under the German coach, Raphinha was given greater trust, more freedom on the pitch and an increasingly important role within the team.
The Brazilian gradually established himself as one of the leaders of the Catalan side, contributing not only with goals and assists, but also through his intensity, pressing and overall influence on Barcelona’s play.
During the 2024/25 season, Raphinha scored 34 goals and provided 25 assists in 56 appearances, performances that played a major role in Barcelona extending his previous contract until 2028 in May 2025.
Since then, his importance to the team has continued to grow. Raphinha himself recently made it clear that he would like to remain at the club for many more years and would be happy to finish his career at Barcelona.
With the new agreement, Barcelona have effectively secured the long-term future of one of the most important players in their current project. His previous contract was due to run until the summer of 2028, while the new deal will extend his stay by a further two seasons.
Barcelona’s official confirmation is now the only remaining step. According to the latest information, however, the agreement has already been completed and signed, meaning the club’s announcement should simply formalise Raphinha’s extended stay in Catalonia.
