Spanish football has witnessed another major transfer this season. After more than a decade in a Real Madrid shirt, Dani Carvajal is set to continue his career at Getafe. The experienced right-back joins as a free agent, with his new club officially confirming a deal that runs until June 30, 2027.

La Liga Finally Gives the Transfer the Green Light

Although Carvajal and Getafe had reached an agreement last week, the official announcement was delayed due to La Liga’s financial regulations. The player had already passed his medical examinations, but the club still needed to meet the requirements to register him.

Getafe president Ángel Torres reportedly provided a personal financial guarantee to secure the necessary funds, clearing the final obstacle to the transfer. As a result, the 34-year-old defender has officially joined José Bordalás’s squad.

A Legendary Real Madrid Career and 27 Trophies

Carvajal leaves Real Madrid after spending 23 years at the club, including 13 seasons with the first team. During his time with the Spanish giants, he made 451 appearances and won an impressive 27 trophies.

His remarkable collection includes six Champions League titles, four La Liga titles, two Copa del Rey trophies, four Spanish Super Cups, five UEFA Super Cups and six FIFA Club World Cup titles.

Carvajal played a key role in one of the most successful generations in Real Madrid’s history. One of his standout moments came in the 2024 Champions League final, when he scored against Borussia Dortmund.

His success also extends to the international stage, having helped Spain win UEFA Euro 2024 and the UEFA Nations League in 2023.

A New Challenge at Getafe and a Potential Reunion with Real Madrid

By joining Getafe, Carvajal remains in Spain’s top flight, although he now faces a different set of challenges and expectations. His experience, determination and leadership are expected to provide a significant boost to Bordalás’s side as the club looks to climb the La Liga standings.

According to Spanish media reports, Carvajal could make his debut on October 19 against Rayo Vallecano. Another intriguing prospect is a potential meeting with Real Madrid in January, when he could face the club where he spent most of his career for the first time as an opponent.

After years of lifting trophies and competing on Europe’s biggest stages, Carvajal is beginning a new chapter at Getafe. The question now is how quickly he can adapt to his new surroundings and what impact he will have on the team for the remainder of the season.
