Paris Saint-Germain are facing a major injury crisis following their 4-2 victory over Barcelona in the Champions League. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has suffered the most serious setback, tearing the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee and requiring surgery in the coming days.
The Georgian international faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines, with his return not expected until 2027. There are growing concerns that his season could already be over.
The injury problems do not end there for head coach Luis Enrique. PSG have confirmed that Ousmane Dembélé has sustained a left thigh injury, while captain Marquinhos is dealing with a similar issue in his right thigh.
Both players are expected to undergo treatment and remain sidelined for several weeks, further limiting Enrique’s options in attack and defence.
Nuno Mendes has also joined the injury list after picking up a left thigh problem during the match against Strasbourg. The Portuguese defender is expected to be out for several weeks as well.
With Kvaratskhelia, Dembélé, Marquinhos and Mendes all unavailable, PSG face a difficult challenge in the weeks ahead. Despite winning all three of their Champions League matches so far, the mounting injuries will put the depth of Luis Enrique’s squad to a serious test.
